We have given them all the tools they need to be a democracy, now it is up to the Iraqi people to decide what they want and work to achieve it. At this point, we should be watching our backs and preparing to leave at the end of 2010 while wishing them luck on our way out.

Apparently being the occupying force's client President does not endear Mr. Maliki to his fellow Iraqis.
The same is true in Afghanistan with Karzai. These men are seen to be collaborators by the general population and they only remain in power (and remain alive) because of American protection. They know that when we leave, they are done
